Alstroemerias (Peruvian lily ) should not be deadheaded.  Snipping off the faded blossoms will cause the plant stop blooming for the season. Instead grasp the spent stem and pulled it out from the ground. The bulb will then send up a replacement stalk, and extends its blooming to all summer.
