Spreading Happiness: Ashland Garden Club’s Lonely Bouquet Event
Lonely Bouquet is a global movement which encourages people to create small bouquets with a thoughtful message attached, then leave these flowers in public spaces for others to find and keep. This simple act of kindness has the power to transform someone’s day, spreading happiness throughout communities.
On September 9, Ashland Garden Club members created 30 bouquets, and distributed them randomly throughout Ashland for residents to find.

Zinnia Garden Bliss: Monarch Butterfly, Hummingbirds, and Cooler Temperatures
A monarch butterfly spent the whole afternoon in the zinnia garden, and it seemed like she was deposited some eggs the milkweeds. Several humming birds continue to visit the zinnias and the trumpet vine. The garden is so much happier with cooler temperatures. ~Goly Ostovar, AGC Member

Backyard Birds; Black-capped Chickadee
Black-capped Chickadees: Black-capped chickadees are found in deciduous and mixed deciduous-evergreen forests, especially near forest edges. They are commonly found near willows and cottonwoods. And, they prefer nesting in alder snags and birch trees. Their diet varies by season, in the summer they eat mostly caterpillars, insects, some spiders, snails, and other invertebrates. In the winter their diet consists of insect eggs and pupae, seeds, small fruits and berries. At feeders they take mostly sunflower seeds that they stuff into bark crevices, but they will also eat peanuts, peanut butter, mealworms and suet.
